Casting the present and the future

By vr foundries on 15-October-2020

It has been a roller coaster ride for the casting industry this year, starting with loads of promises and then hitting the bottom of the curve owing to the outbreak of COVID-19 following business paralysis and then working its way up steadily to revive its fortune. We, at VR Foundries, are committed to mastering and applying advanced casting technologies to increase output and reduce energy consumption and industrial waste.

We understand the future of casting, and with our infrastructure, we are able to meet the advanced and environmental demands, thus contributing to our country’s aspiration of becoming a world leader in the manufacturing sector. We have been steadily investing into high-end research and developing innovative solutions. We are duly equipped to handle the advanced requirements by importing equipment from trusted global players.  Despite the prevailing economic uncertainty, the casting sales are only expected to grow higher with an increase in production capacity. Grey iron production particularly is gaining momentum which is greater than that of SG iron, and is almost equal to that of the increase in aluminium.

Going by the numbers, India continues to grow as the third largest castings’ production in the world at 10m tons, but the industry is also fraught with a slump in glow rate as demand went down. Growth in the sector took a backturn for the past three to four years, though the industry continues to unfold optimism. Some of the challenges that the industry has to face in the future include lack of skilled manpower,  availability of sand due to environmental and mining issues, uninterrupted power supply at competitive rates and short-term demand slowdown which could delay medium-and long-term investment. Energy audit and skill development programmes should be conducted to address these issues, as the Indian foundry sector notably with its robust growth culture and innovative approach can make the cut in the long run. VR Foundries is well-positioned to manufacture components with a vast knowledge content and skill base that will be difficult to replicate as we continuously invest in both technology and people. We also go the extra mile in increasing the number of highly skilled employees that can steer the company towards the future.
